We need to get a few things off our chest

A still from the video below- these earrings and all the jewelry shown was handmade by Helveta Vyoltag and can be found here

Everything else (except for the shoes) was handmade in our studio.

Strange Truth: Promo from odessa straub on Vimeo.

Strange Truth Studios (Brooklyn, NY) presents the first video which encompasses the hand made individually produced pieces. We use discarded and recycled materials and repurpose them. We strive to think about fashion as more of a sculptural endeavor, rejecting the demands of the industry to mass produce to survive. We think of each of our pieces as conveying a different character, and our video as conveying the atmosphere of the world from which our ideas are born.
Thank you so much Sarain Carson-Fox, our beautiful dancer, for making our vision possible.

We are, as always, working to realize all of our ambitions for Strange Truth. As we collect our materials for our next level of creation (we are moving, shifting and fine tuning our focus in our design theory,) we are working to complete our realizations from our latest works. We are sitting on the photos from our last shoot, SOON TO BE RELEASED! They are the inspiration for an article we will be writing as well, we will be featured in an editorial in the next issue of Pie Magazine.

I am involving myself with a video piece currently, we are all excited to see the results for ourselves, and especially  to surrender it to you, our beloved customers and colleagues.

Excite yourselves.

As we have continued to develop the Strange Truth concept since our company’s inception in June 2010, we have worked on a greater depth of integration between our ethos of fine art, repurposed materials, and collaborative arts.

Our most recent designs began as high quality vintage menswear, including full suits, cashmere and lambswool sweaters, and leather outerwear.  We have moved away from the process of patterning, instead concentrating on sculpting the original item into a (strange) new piece.  As a result our line continues to be unique in producing one-of-a-kind pieces.

We were excited to collaborate with photographer Andres Burgos in a recent photo shoot of our work.

We had a great visit on Saturday with a young couple from Berlin, Lex and Thom. Lex is an actress and Thom a dancer, we love the positive energy and always appreciate the support. Lex looked good in just about anything so we were real happy to see here in some of our favorite pieces:

The back of this one-of-a-kind leather jacket is laced like a corset. This particular piece is androgenous, and we love to see it on both men and women. It has insets of cashmere in the shoulders and center back. We are always working on new peices like this, and they always come out different, depending on the original vintage piece.

The Harness Dress and the Armor Printed Leggings look awesome in combination. We have the dress in blue, green, red and black, and the leggings come in black, grey, red green and blue. The leggings are in small medium and large, and the Harness Dress is a one size piece, the harness allows it to be adjusted to any size, sick.

This new jacket is made from a vintage buttery lamb leather jacket, re tailored and sculpted into a piece well worn here by  our friend from Pratt. The jacket is draped in the front, held by antique buttons, and lined with Cashmere. They are all unique pieces, varying based on the differences in the original vintage.

We are currently working on some new colors for the Winter. Our Sweaters will be at the market in Blood Orange, Saffron, Eggplant, Turquoise and Slate on Black. They are all wool, lambswool, and cashmere. We will post pictures of the finished pieces soon.

Our gentle giant friend Reykjavik kept our stand warm for his owner while she tried on our dresses. Thank you all so much for stopping by last weekend, we always appreciate the support!

Denim and cashmere. The jacket’s finally here and it will be up for sale at Artists and Fleas (on N6th st. between Bedford and Berry in Williamsburg.)

They are made out of recycled vintage 100% cotton jeans and 100% cashmere sweaters

Heads up on the Leather banger to be dropped by the end of the week.

Thank you all for coming to our opening on Friday at the Knitting Factory, we always appreciate the support! We had a great time meeting other designers, such as Brooklyn Royalty, My Paper Bag Co., and we were so happy to see our collection in context with the Knitting Factory. The store will open for business in October.

We will still be  selling every weekend at Artists and Fleas (on N6th between Bedford and Berry in Williamsburg) Through the winter. See you there!
